SOARING

Our experienced, FAA-Certified commercial pilot will take you high above the earth in our dual control glider as you enjoy breath-taking views. You may even get the chance to try your hands at the controls under the directions of our pilot if you so wish.  Glider rides are subject to availability and weather conditions.

If you are interested in a glider ride or have any questions, give us a call at 908-662-5145 or come to the airport an check out the gliders and talk to us!

Join us for the incredible feeling of soaring silently above the earth.  You have to experience it to believe it!

How do we know if the weather is permitting?

We will probably NOT be offering rides if any of the following conditions exist:  Winds in excess of 15 MPH, visibility less than 4 miles, or clouds lower than 3000 feet.  Up to the minute weather conditions at Central Jersey Regional Airport are available from the Automatic Weather Observation Station at the airport by calling 908-526-6400.

How many can go in a glider at once?

The gliders we use are two-place aircraft with tandem seating (one in front and one in the back).  You will sit in the front to maximize the views while our pilot sits behind. All glider pilots are FAA Certified Commercial pilots with years of experience.

Is soaring safe?

Soaring in the aircraft we operate is very safe.  The speed of the glider is low, and it doesn’t carry fuel.  In fact, it is so safe that the FAA permits solo flight for children as young as 14 years old, after the proper training and experience of course!

What should I do to prepare for my flight?

Not much really.  It is cooler up in the air than on the ground so a jacket may be required in the spring and fall. Sunglasses and a hat with a brim are always a good idea in bright sunlight. Bring your camera! We will be glad to take a photo of you in the glider, and you may take pictures from the glider while flying.  Be sure you make a potty stop at the airport office prior to your flight because there aren’t any gas stations in the sky.

I enjoyed my first flight, where do I go from here?

Join us and become a glider pilot! We are currently looking for equity members in our club. We utilize two gliders, the SGS 2-33 (2-place) and the 1-26 (1-place). Becoming an equity member buys you a share in both gliders. We also have two instructors on staff who teach for FREE!  You can start off with no experience and in one season be a licensed glider pilot.

For more details please see one of our members at the airport.
